What has been your proudest professional moment this year?
My proudest professional moment this year was making the transition from the marketing side to the product side of the business. It’s been incredibly rewarding to connect the dots between these two critical areas. By leveraging my marketing background, I’ve been able to bring fresh insights to the product team, ensuring that we keep the customer perspective front and center. Successfully applying my understanding of both fields has not only deepened my impact but has also driven better decision-making for the team.
When have you felt most fulfilled in your career?
I’ve felt most fulfilled during my time at Ethos when we finish large, collaborative projects. These moments remind me that it truly takes a village to accomplish what we do. My role in providing data-driven insights into the efficiency and performance of new products or features has been key in these efforts. I thrive on digging deep into the data, uncovering nuances, and turning that into actionable insights that help guide the team towards success. The fulfillment comes from knowing that my work helps shape decisions and improve outcomes for the business.
How have you shown leadership in your current role?
I’ve demonstrated leadership by becoming a go-to person for understanding and interpreting data across marketing, product, and experiments. My ability to break down complex data sets and provide actionable recommendations has helped the team make informed decisions and execute our best possible work. Whether it’s uncovering hidden trends or suggesting optimizations, I take pride in helping steer the team toward more effective and efficient solutions.
What do you love most about Ethos?
I absolutely love the opportunity to work with some of the smartest people I’ve ever met. The diverse skill sets and the collective intelligence of my colleagues inspire me every day. What’s even more exciting is that Ethos constantly challenges me. Even after nearly three years, I’m still learning something new daily, whether it’s a new technique in SQL to optimize queries and extract deeper insights from data, a different perspective on product strategy, or a fresh challenge that pushes my technical and analytical skills. It’s this dynamic environment that keeps me engaged and motivated.
Christian Otto joined Ethos in November of 2021 as a Senior Marketing Analyst and is now a Principal Product Analyst.
