What is your greatest professional accomplishment?
One of my greatest professional accomplishments was building the underwriting platform for Ethos. This platform is at the heart of Ethos’s insurance platform. Being part of the journey to build an industry-leading underwriting platform from a greenfield project and seeing it transform into a key differentiator for the company provides a great sense of achievement. This project required extensive collaboration across multiple teams and innovative problem-solving to integrate advanced algorithms that streamline the life insurance application process. Seeing the system go live and receiving positive feedback from both our users and stakeholders was incredibly rewarding. It reaffirmed the impact of our work in making life insurance more accessible and efficient for everyone.
Why did you join Ethos?
I joined Ethos because its mission to democratize life insurance and use technology to solve real-world problems deeply resonated with me. The chance to work with a talented and passionate team on impactful products was incredibly appealing. Ethos aimed to revolutionize the outdated and inefficient life insurance industry by streamlining the process with technology, allowing consumers to secure policies quickly and easily. What do you love most about Ethos?

When have you felt most fulfilled in your career?
I have felt most fulfilled in my career when I see the tangible impact of our work on people’s lives. At Ethos, we constantly hear from customers about how our easy and fast life insurance process has provided them peace of mind. Knowing that our technology helps families secure their financial future without the hassle and stress traditionally associated with life insurance gives me immense satisfaction and drives my passion for continuous improvement.
How do you inspire your team?
I inspire my team by leading by example and maintaining a transparent, inclusive, and supportive environment. I believe in setting clear goals and providing the necessary resources and autonomy for my team to achieve them. Regularly celebrating successes, no matter how small, and encouraging open communication helps build trust and motivation. I also prioritize personal and professional growth, ensuring team members have opportunities to learn new skills and advance their careers.
How have you shown leadership in your current role?
In my current role at Ethos, I have shown leadership by leading the development of our microservices architecture. This required working closely with various teams and solving complex problems. I also mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of open communication and continuous improvement. By aligning our engineering solutions with business goals and customer needs, I ensure we achieve technical excellence and make a strategic impact, all while supporting Ethos’s mission to protect the next million families.
Lokesh Yadav joined Ethos in October 2019 as a Software Engineer and now manages our Platform Microservices Engineering team.
